Mr B says....

Well the body is a little sore at the end of camp. That walk (Was it a walk!!!) to the top of Kapiti was a challenge! Great day though! Awesome weather, views and birds.
Highlights of camp for me included....................
Sailing (this was awesome again)
My own bedroom!! Sleep is important on camp!
Kids having a great time and enjoying themselves.
Seeing independence have the opportunity to develop.
Jumping down a waterfall
Having a kaka on my head

This has been another great camp. Well organised, well funded, well executed. Big thanks to the parents that were really a good group from beginning to end.
Thanks to Heather for her preparations.

Cheers
Rich

Day in Wellington by Woody

We had a fun day in Wellington.
We did three different things.

In Wellington it was one of the best days on or camp. We went sailing.
We got told some rules then we put some sunscreen on so we didn’t burn our faces. She told us to put on a jacket, some big trousers and a life jacket so if we fell out we could float and it wouldn’t be as cold.
We got onto the yacht but we had to get out of where all the boats are. Our yachts motor wasn’t working so we got a speed boat and it helped get us out.
When we got some speed up, we put the sails up and we had turns at steering.
We went quite far out and I thought it was really fun!

At Te Papa I saw this motor bike which got made in his garage and that must have been really hard.
We went to this antique shop which was a kind of movie and when it closed we saw all this cool stuff.

We went roller blading. It was fun because me and Scott were really good and we went along the waterfront, but cars could still come past so we had to be careful. When we fell over it hurt quite a bit and not many people were use to roller blading.

Rock climbing. This was fun and hard because you needed a lot of arm strength and leg strength to pull yourself up. There was a rope that you needed a lot of arm strength and I got just a half way…then I couldn’t do it any more because I was very sore.
The belayers held us up there so if we feel we wouldn’t drop to the ground, we would just hang there and if they keep pulling it helps us get up.
We had dinner at Mc Donalds

Going to Wellington this day was fun because we got to go a train. There was some long tunnels and some short ones. It goes quite fast through the hills but when it is through town it slows down quite a lot. Heaps of people were on the train and it was very busy!

Day One by Kelly and Tasha

We travelled here today thinking at least one person would be sick on the bus but we were proved wrong! It wasn't till we arrived at our camp that we discovered there were lots of activities and things to do. We started with Orienterring so we were able to find or way around the campsite. Then we unpacked our belongings then set off for a long walk to the beach which took around 30 minutes. When we got back we were ever excitedto see we had hamburgers and sausages for tea. For desert we had a ice-cream with a choice of 5 flavours. Then we took a rest before we headed off to play a challening game of Frisby Golf. There was only a couple of accidents including Kelly trying to get the Frisby inside the goal but instead i hit Mrs Savage our teacher. Tommorow we are going Abseiling Rockclimbing Canyoning and hopefully the Southwards car Museum which will be very exciting. We have found some pesty ants living in and around our cabins but luckily we have been studing on Ants.

Day 2, by Zach with help from Mr B

Today we went to Otaki Forks Adventure. There were three differnt thing to do. There was absailing, rock climbing and canyoning.
Canyoning was cool and my fav part was the flying fox. It meant we are travelling along a river, abseiling down waterfalls!
Absailing was a bit boring and we just did what we had done when we were canyoning. But 4 people got right to the top, which was pretty amazing!
When i did rock climbing i did the two easy ones blindfolded.
After tea we went to the car museam and i cleaned the floor. The car museum was huge and full of cool old cars! It had the oldest car in NZ and cars which were previously owned by gangsters, with really thiick bullet proof galss and old bullet holes too!
Camp is going well and we are all having a cool time!

Camp is just over a week away. I'm really excited and anxious, but also i'm worried that i'm going to forget something important.
The activities sound really fun. El Rancho, the camp that we are staying at, sounds really spacious and comfortable, and it seems like we are going to have a lot of freedom.
i really hope that we don't have to rehearse the end of the year production every night, like we did last year.
So all and all camp is going to be really fun, and i'm looking forward to it.

Pre Camp

27th of October
So.... blogging on camp! I'm setting this up before c amp.
The idea is children can take a turn (if they like) and let you out there know about their day at camp. Each day I hope one or two kids will want to share their day with you. Another pretty col aspect of this is that you can add your comments to the kids!! Give it a go!

Other ideas will be a group making a video about camp and of course there will be plenty of pix for you to see on the web site.
Hope this works and is of some interest!!! Maybe we could put the camp itinerary here and a few things from the kids camp book!
